Hello.
To my understanding, it means that, for any reason, programmed scans have not been executed.
Thanks.

Hello. You can also hold down the windows key and alt. while pressing down arrow, this way Jaws will read each row completely, regardless the number of columnss.
If you wish to read more than once a given row, press windows key and comma simultaneusly as many times you want to reread that complete row. I hope it makes some sense. I apologize for my English.

If you're allowed to copy and paste the material,
copy to clipboard the info,
paste it to a word processor that handles columns.
Go to the column feature in your word processor and change from two columns to one column.

I come across pdf text books that for some reason are created in two
columns.  Please help if you know how to get them into one column so jaws
will read them properly.  I am in the middle of writing a research paper and
need to read this pdf and reference it.  Thanks for any help you can

You could try using the frame viewer.
Define two frames.
One frame for the left-hand column and another frame for the right-hand column.

You might try changing the reading order. Not sure if this will help, but worth a try! Press CTRL plus k to go to preferences, arrow up or down to reading, tab once, and you will find three choices to choose from.

Re: pdf files with two columns

Drew Hunthausen

Ryan,
Is this a paper for a school, and do you have any DSS resources on campus
that could help you with this. I'm only asking because when I was in
college, I graduated last year, I had this same problem and had the DSS
staff help me out. I had a number of text resources that needed to be
translated so I could read them and I knew it would take hours and hours to
translate them myself. Just a suggestion.

some navigation quick keys not working in Word

Cynthia Bruce

Hi All,

Using JAWS 14 and MSW 2007, I am finding all of a sudden that the quick keys for actions such as selecting text between a marked place and the current place in text is not working. Since I downloaded JAWS 14, these things seem to be working intermittently, and even though I have the keyboard settings set to laptop, that particular command only seems to work with the caps lock key, not the insert key.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Cynthia

Re: Keystroke Feedback

Mike W B <mwb5781@...>

Hi Darran,

Try changing your speech verboscity level. If you change it to Intermediate
& you invoke the, control + C keystroke, Jaws will only report, copy. With
the advanced level setting, Jaws reports nothing. Invoking the, windows key
+ C keystroke, at the Intermediate level setting Jaws reports, append, &
with the advanced level setting Jaws reports nothing.
To make this change do the following:
1. Press Insert + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard to open the
Settings Center & press control, shift, + D, for default all applications.

2. Arrow down to Speech Verboscity, press right arrow to open, arrow down 1
time, & you'll hear, verboscity level.....

3. Press your spacebar to toggle through the options. The options are
Beginner highest, intermediate, & Advanced lowest. If you press the, F6
key, you can arrow to these options using different radio buttons.

4. Once you have your verboscity level selected press enter to save your
changes & close.

Hope this helped.
Take care.
Mike

Hi List.

Could someone please remind me which settings I need to play with to hear or
not hear certain JAWS keystroke feedback, in particular, "control plus c" to
copy something to the clipboard, and "windows key plus c" to append
something to the clipboard?

I did have these announcements until very recently, but for the life of me I
don't remember what I've changed to silence them!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Re: New JAWS release fixes--text boxes!

Ann Byrne

After installing the JAWS update, I opened a document including three text boxes. Jaws read the text without my pressing shift-control-o! I thought something bad had happened to the document, till I loaded JAWS 13 and the text boxes required shift-control-o to read. Wow! This is a lovely feature!

Additionally, the update seems to me to respond faster than the last version. am I dreaming? if so, I like the dream.

Re: [Bulk]

Dave...

Jen,

That's not an acceptable solution, in my opinion. Not using the Apps key
makes it harder to get at context menus.

Try this: Shift+F10. Do you get the same result as using the App key? If
not, then I guess it could be an acceptable workaround.

IF you get the same problem, then your JAWS installation is messed up.

You said you were using a laptop layout even though this is a desktop. Why
did you decide on that choice? Do you also have a laptop you use with JAWS?

I agree with Adrian, that you should try to do a repair first.

If that doesn't work, then before you try reinstalling, you really need to
contact Freedom Scientific Support and discuss. It might be that your video
chaining manager (or whatever they call it now) is the problem. No telling
what a non-JAWS tech guy will do to a computer since they have no idea what
JAWS is doing.

Good luck.

Hi, Everyone. I jjust had a tech guy update my JAWS 14 when it
mysteriously stopped talking after a sound driver update on Windows 8.
Now, JAWS speaks again but reads everything beginning with "Windows

doesn't automatically pop me into forms anymore. IT doesn't seem to be
telling me much of what's on the screen except main menus and somehow

thanks for any thoughts. Also, I had the tech guy install a rather
horrible classic start menu shell app that I uninstalled without
seeing any difference in the layout once restarting it. It

the Microsoft Narrator voice keeps coming on as well when I don't even
go there. I can't figure this out. I'm wondering what to do? I have
the keyboard set on laptop settings, since that's what I'm used to
even though it's a desktop but it didn't make any difference before
JAWS quit talking after that soujnd card update. Is this a video
drvier thing--which says unavailable by the way--or my keyboard or do
I have to take this back to the tech guy again?
thanks for any thoughts. Also, I had the tech guy install a rather
horrible classic start menu shell app that I uninstalled without
seeing any difference in the layout once restarting it. It
doesn'doesn't make sense.
Exhaustedly,
Jen

Hi, Jen. I would suggest completely uninstalling JAWS, and re installing it again. If the problem persists, it may be due to the driver update in Windows 8.

Thank you.

Hi, Everyone. I jjust had a tech guy update my JAWS 14 when it
mysteriously stopped talking after a sound driver update on Windows 8.
Now, JAWS speaks again but reads everything beginning with "Windows
up" or "winows down arrow" everytime I navigate with the keys, and
doesn't automatically pop me into forms anymore. IT doesn't seem to be
telling me much of what's on the screen except main menus and somehow
the Microsoft Narrator voice keeps coming on as well when I don't even
go there. I can't figure this out. I'm wondering what to do? I have
