Attaching Files using G Mail, JAWS 14 and Windows 8

From: Gregg Wandsneider <gwandsne@...> Date: Thu, 31 Jan 2013 08:59:15 -0600 Subject: Attaching Files using G Mail, JAWS 14 and Windows 8 To: jaws@... Hello: I am relatively new to the list. For my job as a freelance journalist, I need to re-learn, using Windows 8, Microsoft 2010 and JAWS 14, how to attach files to my G Mail messages. I tried to use the same procedure as I am used to, opening the file using the space bar or enter key, but for some reason the file does not want to attach. Is there a "new trick" to sending attachments in the new version of Word, or JAWS or Windows? Has anyone else been struggling with this? Kindly: Gregg Wandsneider.

I was just Googling another question and noticed several discussions of LinkedIn's accessibility, on the whole sounding positive. You might do a search with terms such as LinkedIn, accessible, JAWS. To clear up LinkedIn's purpose, it is designed to connect employers with employees. Because resumes are posted on the site, employers can troll through for prospects. In that context, it is also a social network, much like Facebook. It is sometimes referred to as Facebook for professionals. Note how the name is written, with no spaces and caps L and I: LinkedIn.

You put me to shame. I didn't bother looking, figuring placemarkers were buried in a file identified by its file extension. My intention is to copy the placemarkers file, rather than delete it, and copy it into the JAWS "my settings" folder when JAWS is installed on my new system tomorrow. I'll be doing the same with my .jdf (dictionary) file. Thanks.

USB Tv Tuners
Jamie Davis <jdmusicman1971@...>
Mike and Others:
I want to thank Mike for his resource that he provided in his previous message. The link to Blind Tv may prove to be a valuable resource for audio described television, I am still looking for an accessible tv tuner, or at least one that would work well with JAWS, in order to watch the local tv stations, and to recoird that programming. Case in point, my fiancé and I like Lawrence Welk, which is re-run on our local PBS station. That show is not streamed anywhere online, as near as I can tell. I’ve considered getting the Avertv Hybrid Volar Max TV Tuner Kit from Amazon. Does anyone know anything about this particular unit. According to Amazon it is a starter kit. This means it only comes with the tuner. That’s okay as I have Windows Mediacenter, my tv antenna, and a converter box. I also have the coaxial cable needed to hook it altogether. I was able to find some files on keystroke commands for Windows Mediacenter. If you happen to know about this product, or any others like it, I’d appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Regards: Jamie -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The problems are different every time I try to use it. Several other JAWS users I know are having problems with it as well. I use a Dell 64 bit laptop with I5 processor, 8 meg ram and high speed hard drive. On it is Windows7 and Office 2010. I have been a JAWS user for ten years and currently have JAWS 13 latest update. The problems with Linkedin are strange. The techs at Freedom Scientific say they have a lot of calls on Linkedin but do not know how to fix it. Each time I access Linkedin it acts differently. Only once in many months have I been able to check incoming messages. The woman who teaches JAWS here in town can't get it to work on her systems at home or work. Could it be that the basic linkedin set up, which is free, might be the problem? I hate to upgrade and have it not work. What do you think? Thanks, Andre

Yes, Jaws supports Arabic but it has a separate version which is for Arabic and English only. It has to be purchased separately from a Freedom Scientific dealer in the Middle East. Tomorrow I will email you offlist, I just need to find the link. JAWS could probably support arabic if you install an Arabic speech synthesizer, but I have a link for a version of NVDA which includes a very good Arabic woman voice. If you do have an arabic voice, you don't change it by language, you rather go to your synthesizers and choose sappi 5 instead of eloquence and then the arabic voice. Ari
