Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] yet another problem with JAWS

Dave...

Terra,

Now you've confused me.

If you wanted to be using version 12.0.522, then why did you check for
updates? That would download 12.0.1669 and you're back where you started.

Turn off the automatic update feature in the JAWS Options/Basics dialog and
stay with the version you install (in your case 12.0.522).

And like David earlier I don't understand the role that Flash plays in your
decision to go back to 12.0.522.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I uninstalled everything and tried an
install of the latest version of JFW 12, and it did the same thing as the
previous version of 12 with regards to not reading in internet explorer. I
then uninstalled it, re-installed jfw 12.0.522 and when I checked for
updates it installed the latest version again, and now it reads in internet
explorer, but I'm still having the problem with flash content. I really want
to be using the previous version, but I have no idea why it is not reading
in internet explorer.

I have a strange problem with JFW. I reverted back to version 12.0.522
because of my annoying problem with flash with the latest version, but now
when I go to internet explorer and try to do anything JFW won't read
anything. I can't see links, it won't read text, nothing. I can do an insert
f7 to get to the links list box, but I can't see anything on the page.
Tabbing doesn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've made
sure it was in full screen and did a jaws refresh. JFW 11 doesn't seem to
have this problem. Thanks for any help.

Re: [Bulk] labs.google

How about trying the completely accessible Google Labs without the
/accessible ending? I just created this results page that way, and it shows
headings, etc.:

http://www.googlelabs.com/

I find google's /accessible versions of its search sites often limiting. For
example, on the regular Google search pages, the /accessible version doesn't
list the number of total hits.

You need to completely remove JAWS 12 and install clean. See my message from several months back.

Hi, Adrian and all,
where does one find these add ons?
I don't so much encounter the closing thing, but I get the dialog box
about an error report or that JAWS box that spells somehting or other
out, say next line I think it is, and when I click "don't send," the
whole thing goes away. I encounter this on many web sites...maybe this
add on thing is the problem there, too?
Thanks.

In the past, other listers have suggested looking down your list of
add-ons in IE's tools/options and disabling them one by one to see if
the cause of the crashes lies there.

I don't have this problem with IE, but I do with Firefox.

Morning all,
Using Win/7 Home Premium, and Jaws 12. When using Internet Explorer
(8 or9), and the newest versions of Jaws 12, newest bill and a older
bill, IE just stops working. I get a message that IE has shut down and
Windows is looking for a answer. Sometimes IE will come back asking me,
or should I say telling me, that the last browsing session has shut
down, would I like to restart it.
Any thoughts on why the IE problems?
Maybe IE is corrupted. This happens in both IE8 and 9.
I am baffled. Did a scan disc and a defrag also but with no good
results.
Any help appreciated.

Hello I believe the reason why your not seeing that box is? You're using XP.

Start jaws automatically....

Start JAWS Options
Start JAWS at the Logon screen

Start JAWS after logon for all users
Start JAWS after logon for this user: Always
When checked, JAWS will be loaded at the logon screen.

OK Cancel

In either case, I still believe it's a timing issue. The logon dialog comes

shake again, and start speaking.

Gezim,

Perhaps if you tell us what version of WLM you currently have, and if
possible, what version is being pushed out? How can we know anything without
that information?

I have installed the essentials earlier, so I am already using ribbons.
However, it seems that there is a new update available and that's why I
wanted to make sure it works with JAWS.

Many thanks for your reply,
Gezim

Hello there;

Well, yes the latest version of windows live essentials does work with jaws
12, however, just be aware, the latest version will incorporate the ribbon,
so you'll need to learn how to navigate the menus,
Other then that? It's fine.

?All works fine here, windows seven 64 bit latest jaws, must admit it was a
bit of an unusual installation , i just let it do its thing all was just
fine, so if you hear odd things or nothing appearing to be happening just
leave it a couple of minutes or so.

Dave, you need to hit Space on that "automatically start Jaws"
button to get to its options.

At 04:48 PM 8/10/2011, you wrote:

Check your setting if in Options > basic, "start jaws on log-on screen"
and "start jaws on log-on screen for this user" are checked.

Are you sure you're waiting long enough for JAWS? On my laptop with the
network login I know for a fact that the prompt for
Ctrl+Alt+Delete shows up
on the screen almost a minute before JAWS finally loads and start
speaking.
This is known because I've had my IT people watching while the system
boots.

Without vision, I would never have known that I could actually log in
before JAWS even speaks. However I usually just wait.

Subject: [Bulk] JAWS and Microsoft Active Directory Login

Hello everyone,

We have a professor using JAWS version 12 that is getting a new laptop
with Windows 7 and is set up with Microsoft Active Directory Login. The
problem is that once the laptop is booted up JAWS will not read
"Control + Alt + Delete" and "Username" and "Password" for her to
login. JAWS starts speaking once she is logged in. JAWS is set to
"Automatically start JAWS"
and is set
to "Run JAWS from the System Tray". Has anyone run into this problem
and can offer a solution?
