I could not activate or a change a combo box a couple of nights ago
and jaws thirteen had no problem with the same website. Other than
that, seems to be working pretty well.

I haven't experienced any problems up to now. Many people have and
some haven't so give it a try and then as Aidan said, check for the
latest update and I'm sure you'll be fine. I don't see any issues yet
but we all do different things with our computers.

Re: crm systems

Hi,

I don't know how much help it is, but we are moving over to a cRM system at work later next year. I believe it is from sales force . I haven't yet tried the system as it is not yet ready/built for us yet but the IT team have told me that sales force build their products with accessibility like screen readers and jaws in mind. I'm not sure if this is just for the system they are building for us specifically or for all there systems. And until I get to test the system I won't know how accessible it is, but it might be worth doing a google search for more info about sales force and jaws.

Like I said I don't know if this in anyway helps but thought if nothing else it may just give you a starting point to systems that might work/help.

Re: Installing Windows 8 independantly

Aidan Maher <aidan.smarttalk@...>

Wel, I don't have it yet, so I don't no exactly, but the refresh
option should be located in pc settings as they call it now, or
control panel, but i don't no furder, I guess it will ask for a
warning and allow you to cansle if you wish, simular to a format. The
only thing that I don't like, if joseph is correct, that you con't
instal an upgrade if you go from windows7 to 8, microsoft says that in
that case you need to do a custom instal, unless if you can buy the
upgrade version wich you probibly did. But now this upgrade thing is
not available in all regions so that means some of us have to use a cd
from scratch wich means it must be a custom instal, that sucks, is
there no way to start the custom so jaws can help you out in the first
part. And the other thing I wunder, is that if you instal windows7,
will narrator also be available after the second reboot, or is that
only applying to windows8? I ask since when I got the setup assistant
before I couldn't manage to get it running at all.

I also would like to no, since most of them seem to mess things up

just not CCleaner. That really is not good for jaws users, maybe
accessible, but it remove things you need and sometimes can affect

Re: JAWS for DOS

Dave Durber

Hello Carlos:

Yes, you can put JAWS for DOS on a 1.44 floppy Disk.

To my knowledge, you cannot use JFD to access the CMOS for a motherboard in any way nor, can you use JFD to delete/wipe/erase the CMOS settings for a motherboard.

If you know where the jumper that resets the CMOS to factory defaults is located on your motherboard, change the jumper setting and turn on your computer so that the reset of the CMOS can be performed.

After the CMOS has been reset to factory defaults, turn off the computer and return the jumper to its original location, otherwise, the CMOS will be reset to factory defaults, each time you turn on your computer.

Unless you are really certain as to how the jumper on the motherboard must be set to perform the CMOS reset function, I would strongly recommend you get someone with vision, who is familiar with motherboards to help you with this task.

Unless you are familiar with the CMOS of a particular motherboard, if you are totally blind, you will need sighted assistance to make the desired changes to the CMOS.

HTH

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Re: Installing Windows 8 independantly

Hi,
In the short term, yes, as you cannot remove video intercepp for JFW
12 and 13 under Windows 8. This causes some video driver issues, such
as no text on screen on some applications. To "fix" this, you need to
"refresh" Windows 8 (it can be done without sighted assistance).

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for this! I'm afraid the download went a bit faster than I had
thought, and, I've already started the installation... I didn't update any
drivers, and I didn't uninstall Jaws 12 and 13. Will this cause me grief?

Thanks again.

Hi,
Yes, it can be done (or maybe not depending on installation method).
If you're upgrading, then you can use JFW for first part (upgrade
assistant, installation method selection and entering the product
key). If doing custom install, you need sighted assistance for fir st
part (booting to DVD, selecting region and language, entering product
key and so forth). After the first part, the computer will restart.
After a further reboot, you can start Narrator (Windows key+U, then
press SPACE on Narrator). Then go through the installation and you'll
be done.
Before you install Windows 8, update all your drivers (if possible)
and remove JAWS versions earlier than 14.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: Jaws and Word Press

Hi Stephanie,

It's been a couple of years since I've done anything on Word Press, however, a friend did use it with Jaws successfully last February. I know things change quickly in the tech world, so, I'm not doubting what you say.

Can you tell us what issues you are having with Word Press? Is it impossible to use with Jaws, or, is it just annoying?

Thanks Stephanie. :)

I have a wordpress.com account, and I'm telling all of you that they

know how, or why but it seems like every time they fix accessability

only noticed that thanks to James) :)
Anyway, as someone who has a wordpress.com account I am telling you
that it would be a bad idea to get an account. (I've had mine for
three years. It'll be four in July) Unless, of course you get a .org
account which rfrom what I've been told isn't bad with accessibility.
:d So I know what I'm talking about here. Bad idea, very bad idea.

Hi Jean,

A couple of years ago, when I was at Leader Dogs training with a guide dog
(I won't say how the dog worked out, LOL) I used Word Press.com to keep a
blog of my guide dog training. I posted to it daily with only minor
issues... once in a while, when I was in an edit field, Jaws would lose
focus and I'd have no way to tell where in the text I was. Sometimes I'd
type my post in notepad, and then go to WordPress and paste the text into
the appropriate field. A friend visited Australia last year and used Word
Press to keep us all informed about her trip, and she told me tonight that
she didn't have too many major issues using WordPress with Jaws. When I did
my blog from Leader Dogs, I was able to read everyone's comments... it was
great!!

I think your best bet would be to go to word press, open an account, and
play around with it. It's free. If you want to see how I did my guide dog
training blog, I'd be happy to send you a link.

HTH

Must be the month for new things for me. First Twitter, and now I want to

I've never had a web site or blog, and want to check this all out. I've

parts aren't accessible with Jaws. Can anyone point me in the right
direction to get started with Word Press? Are there any tweaks or things
to know about accessibility and Jaws as I try this out?

Thanks.

I have used it for many years. It is an excellent program. I have had
zero
virus issues since using it. And, it is totally accessible with Jaws.
