Hi,

I have just uninstalled the hotfix and gone back to:

J14.0.918-64bit.exe

However it is playing up with the virtual cursor and IE9 and Outlook 2010.

It just says blank page in IE and won't read emails either.

Has perhaps the video intercept got corrupted but I can't find where you
fix
that? Where do I go?

I am on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.

Thanks,
Dale.

Wel the thing is that the copy of the previous version should be on
the pc wile you instal 14, and you must choose to leave shaired
components dearing instal. I hope it can be fixed, as freedom like to
choose wich bugs to fix and wich not. From the downloads page, select
jaws, and from there, select the archives, then you can get to 13 and
earlier.

The links list does not come up when you press insert-f7.
Also, the jaws menu does not speak as you arrow down through it. You have
to read current line on each choice.

Chairman Mal <chairmanmal@...>

Hello from Austin,
I'm authorized to download JFW 14, but its not working. Perhaps I should wait, but FS tech support told me that I lack service pack two, and that's preventing 14 to latch onto something it needs to work properly. Should I try to get service pack two and try JFW 14 again or wait until the bugs are fixed?

To get the previous version of JAWS:
1. go to Freedom Scientific's web site.
2. find the current JAWS14 and start to download it.
3. After you say SAVE, you will be presented with the name of the current JAWS file.
4. edit that name to read: J14.0.918
5. press enter to complete the download.

Press the +Spacebar, then press o. You now have a list of different scans
you can perform. Choose one and press enter on it.

Subject: Accessing OCR Function In Jaws 13 for Scanned Image PDF Files

Hi, all.

At work, I am getting increasing numbers of scanned image PDF files.

I have the K1000 software from Kurzweil, but still need to get a scanner to
interface with that program.

In the meantime, can someone give me a quick summary of the key commands
that are used to do the OCR recognition via Jaws 13 in Windows 7, at least
for the time being?

I consulted the help file in Jaws 13, but got what seemed to be confusing
instructions.

The help file said to use the insert key, plus the space bar and the letter
S to start the reading, but I could never get it to work. Perhaps I'm doing

the key conbination incorrectly.

Again, I'm using Jaws 13, with Windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the clarifications on the OCR feature in Jaws.

I'll give your suggestions a try, and let you know how they work for me here.

Hi There,
Actually, I think what's meant here is to press the JAWS key (which is equal
to the insert key)
And, instead of "R" press the spacebar.

So:
Hit the JAWS key and the spacebar; you'll here a click, letting you know
you're in the "layered keystroke" mode; now you can press whichever key you
want:
O for OCR, for instance.
Checking out the tutorials may also be helful to get the hang of it.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge here, but I'm trying to figure out where
the insert and jaws keys are to do the insert plus jaws key plus R
combination.

It just seems very hard to do from an urgonomic point of view.

Can you tell me how you do this on the standard computer keyboard?

Again, sorry about my ignorance here.

Hi Tom,

Below are several different notes from my OCR notes folder. There are
links
to tutorials at the bottom.
Whenever you press Insert / Jaws key + R, this is called, Layered
Keystrokes
, you can then press the question mark key to have Jaws tell you what all
the
options are in there.

Insert / Jaws key + R, then press the letter, O, for OCR Recognition, then
press the letter W, for window.

To navigate tables with 1 hand, press Insert / Jaws key + r, then T, for
tables.

The convenient OCR in jaws 13 is not a replacement for doing OCR on a
document but rather it is designed to perform OCR on screen elements.
Not only does it perform OCR on the screen element, it also allows you to
move through the results with the jaws cursor and if it has clickable
spots
you
can use the jaws mouse click "NUMPAD slash" to activate the control.
As some one stated earlier to day they were able to register some software
that had a totally graphical screen.

Tom

While very long PDF documents are better left to Open Book, or Kurzweill,
the OCR function in Jaws 13 could come in handy for checking out fax pages
received by e-mail, and if the fax contains multiple pages, one can OCR
the
first page, then press control+page down to go to the next page, and use
the
OCR tool to read that second page, and so on down the number of pages in
the
fax.

This will definitely come in very handy for me in my business.

Hi,

I have just installed (wish I hadn't) the latest Jaws update.

Now it won't read when I alt tab on the computer and tell me which programs
I'm going between.

Can this be fixed? Is there a new setting somewhere?

Alternatively do you know where the download is of the previous jaws
version? I can't find the previous version on the FS website.

Thanks,
Dale.

Hello Ari

Thank you for your mail.

I knew an organization in Vietnam which created a Vietnamese voice but I
could not contact it (I sent request but not getting any answer).

As I understand, I will have to create a vietnamese voice (as a talk
dictionary). But I don't know what is dictionary format?

How to integrate voice into Jaws What will I have to do in order to my
voice
appears on Jaws voice Adjustment dialog (as a profile).

Actually, I've just touched this topic, so I do not have good knowledge
about it. So please tell me which kind of document I should read first to
understand more.

Thank you.

Dung Nguyen.

William Sallander <wsallander@...>

I'm basically having the same issues.
I've also noticed that the jaws, shift keys will not work.
I've also noticed when tabbing through the desktop, task and notifications area, the tab keys not to go in the direction you are tabbing.
It looks like the so called patch broke it even more.
You may also want to see if you can find the previous versions in the downloads section.
I believe there is a certain section for previous versions of Jaws on the FS site.
