Windows8 Jaws list??

Morey Worthington

Hello all,
Doing some more upgrading. Is there a Windows 8 JFW list that some nice person out there would share the link to subscribe to it??
Yes, I am using Jaws 14 which I am very happy with.

Thanks very much,
Morey Worthington

Hi,
I am still using XP professional with Jaws 11 and that happens to me frequently. I have re-installed IE 8 and that helps for a while, and if I minimize all windows with the windows key plus M, Jaws will start speaking again and I can then alt tab back to IE8.
It makes me think that there is a bug in IE 8, but can't prove it.

Mike, having used jaws 13 and Windows 7 and i.e. 8 for a good year, I've not
come across this one. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to you, just that I
haven't seen it.

Hello folks! I'm having an issue on my work computer. I use windows 7,
along with Jaws 13 and at least once a day, IE encounters a problem, and
wants to close the particular web-page that I am on. When this happens,
JAWS stops speaking. I have to utilize sighted assistance to click the
message. Once that happens, JAWS works right again. Left to my own
devices, if this error occurs, I have to do a hard reboot of my computer
system. I hate doing this, because I'd rather shut the computer down
properly. Any suggestions? I know it is a rather odd problem. One that I
do not encounter on my home computer.

Re: dropbox

If you can't geto the accept button from the email go to the site and
click on account. I can't remember where you'd go from there, but I've
done it that way, and it works. Eventually though, you should find
something that says "envites" with a number beside it. If you click
that you should be able to approve from there. Sorry if my
instructions aren't that helpful. Maybe someone can add in the details
I'm forgetting.

Accessing OCR Function In Jaws 13 for Scanned Image PDF Files

Tom Behler

Hi, all.

At work, I am getting increasing numbers of scanned image PDF files.

I have the K1000 software from Kurzweil, but still need to get a scanner to interface with that program.

In the meantime, can someone give me a quick summary of the key commands that are used to do the OCR recognition via Jaws 13 in Windows 7, at least for the time being?

I consulted the help file in Jaws 13, but got what seemed to be confusing instructions.

The help file said to use the insert key, plus the space bar and the letter S to start the reading, but I could never get it to work. Perhaps I'm doing the key conbination incorrectly.

Again, I'm using Jaws 13, with Windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

I think so yes, that is why I said its on the site, but yes the email
you get must have a link inside it wich should point you to the place
where except/reject must be. I also struggle, I don't even get a
public folder, and if it wasn't for the lovely jaws cursor, I would
not be able to change settings or properly instal it.

Hi,

Has anyone tried lately to share a folder in dropbox? When I successfully
send the email and the other party receives it, the only link is to view the
folder not to except the share.

Any tips? Thoughts? Help?

Re: A shortcut key to rename a worksheet in MS Excel 2007

Lisle, Ted (CHFS DMS)

You're right; there should also be tabs at the bottom, accessible with the JAWS cursor.

Shoot me if i'm rong, but try control and page up and control page down. That should switch between sheets.

Re: A shortcut key to rename a worksheet in MS Excel 2007

Ann Byrne

To rename a work sheet, press alt-h, then o, then r, then type the new name.

I don't find a shortcut for changing color, but if you use the JAWS cursor, JAWSPageDown to get to the bottom of the workbook where the sheets are listed. Right click on the one you want to change, and there are all kinds of choices.

Good luck!
