Jaws 13 and MS Word 2002

Jim L

Heya folks,

I often copy and paste text from certain websites to my word document. Am
using Jaws 13 and Microsoft word 2002 on an XP home PC.

Just recently whether its particular websites I don't know when I paste text
to my word am getting words spread letter by letter down the page e.g the
word newspaper for example
N
E
W
S
P
A
P
E
R

As you can imagine this gets very frustrating when it comes to reading text
that I want to save etc
The only thing that fixes it slightly is under format in word 2002 settings
is clicking autoformat but this doesn't fix it completely and copying and
pasting text isn't as much fun as I once experienced.

I've gone thru my Jaws 13 word settings and turned off graphics but please
if there's any configuration or options I need to change to help me continue
my pasting important info from the web to my word document any help will be
appreciated.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Wil
For me, I've never managed to use JFW with one note properly. I am
thinking, since you have a bit of sight, how about you try use it with
something like Supernova magnifier from Dolphin or maybe FS MAGic? If
you use it for short periods of time, then you can use the demos of
these programs instead of having to buy them.
Sorry, but I really don't know if my answers helped you much at all,
but all I know is I've never been able to use this with jaws properly,
so I don't bother.

I'm very interested in using OneNote for school, however I keep running
into accessibility issues. I'm partially sighted and still use Zoomtext a
lot, but apparently the combination of Zoomtext and OneNote is too much for
computers to bear, as several have consistantly frozen up on me and
required forced shutdowns. I also use JFW, particularly for reading long
passages, and thought that maybe I could access OneNote with Jaws. When I
tried, Jaws could read the main page fairly well, but could not navigate to
any of the tabs or other controls I was trying to reach (add new page, new
section, etc). I tried accessing the command list and software help for
Jaws and OneNote, and basically got the message that Jaws did not recognize
the program.

Has anyone else used OneNote successfully with Jaws, and if so, how? Do I
need a script? I know I could not write one myself, so if I do need one
where might I find one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Will

A good question for FS, just to be up to date!

Unfortunately, my experience with asking video card questions at FS has been
unhappy. This list could be a good place to ask, if anyone has actual
experience with a card.

Good Afternoon.

Just writing with a video card enquiry.

A radio station I'm volunteering for is looking to purchase a new pc.

The pc has a ATI HD7770 1 GB graphics card in it, I presume on-board.

Does anyone know if this will work with jaws?

Thanks in advance for any info you are able to provide.

Hello, everyone: I am a Jaws user, using the most recent build of Jaws 13. I
am finding when I open internet explorer 8 often Jaws goes silent for a
while wile loading a web page. It usually comes back, but occasionally it
does not, and the computer freezes up, not allowing me to do anything,
necessitating a forced shut down. I am using windows Xp, with an old delll
computer. Any ideas as to what might be happening would be most appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: J-say and dragon

Marquette, Ed <Ed.Marquette@...>

You do not need J-Say. J-Say makes training easier, and does add to the convenience of using Dragon Naturally Speaking, but it is NOT necessary.
Also, if the Dragon Naturally Speaking is older than Version 11.5, the transfer is valuable mainly to give you a discount on the upgrade to version 12.0
I personally think the advances in Naturally Speaking in 11.5 are so great that you would be wasting your time with anything earlier.

Re: WLM alternatives

Honestly it shouldn't matter whether your ISP supports it or not.
Jaws supporting your chosen client is far more important.

WLM does take some getting used to but once you do it is quite usable.

Chatting with Facebook Friends

Rick Miller

Dear Listers:

I am trying to use JAWS to set up AIM to chat with my Facebook friends and am having a terrible time. I have gone online and have tried to follow the instructions I have run across, but nothing seems to be helping. So now I'm turning to all of you with the hope that someone can give me the advice and the help I need.

First of all, before I begin, I'd like to tell you that I am using JAWS 13, Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8. I begin having problems the minute I try to go to the www.aim.com web site. When the web site pops up, so does the Internet Explorer information bar. I have turned the information bar off by going to Internet Options, but it still keeps popping up. I can't figure out what to do to stop it from popping up.

I have managed to go to the page where the options of how to proceed with AIM pop up. I only want to use AIM to chat with my Facebook friends, so I have opted not to allow it to do such things as control my Facebook friends, control my messages, control my news feeds, etc., etc. Then after I have made these options I cannot find the link to continue to the next step. The one time I did I found myself on the Lifestream page, but could not find my buddy list. Sometimes I have gotten a notice that my browser is not supported. Do you know if Internet Explorer 8 is compatible with AIM? Could that be the reason why nothing is working?

There is another annoying thing that has been happening which I can't figure out how to stop. Ever since I downloaded AIM version 7.5 (the version of AIM I am using), every time I boot up my computer Internet Explorer 8 automatically loads the AOL main page in spite of the fact that AOL is not my home page. Do any of you know if there is a way I can stop this from happening?

Thank you listers for any help you can give.

Sincerely,

Rick Miller

Problem After the logon screen

Fred Quick <techpro4u@...>

Hello listers,

I just installed the latest build of Jaws13 64bit on a Zenbook running Win7
pro64bit. When I power on, Jaws speaks the logon screen. I select a user,
type in the password. After pressing enter, Windows loads and Jaws is not
running. I've selected all of the proper settings for Jaws to run after
logon for all users. I've tried various ways to run Jaws from the desktop,
hotkey and the run dialog but no go!
Now when I shut down the computer, Jaws starts to say something just before
Windows shuts down.
Any suggestions to correct this would be appreciated.

Fred

WordPerfect with JAWS beta

This afternoon I talked with John Carson.
He set up on his server WP12 with JAWS14.
He was able to use WP12 successfully.
He also tried JAWS13 with equal success.
We believe that there is something about my XP Dell 2008 system--Perhaps an old video driver.
He can use WP x6 with JAWS14, but he believes X6 won't run on my XP system.
It may be safe to use JAWS14 with WordPerfect but not yet for me.

Will my standard jaws licence work with Windows 8 release preview or would I
