Scripting a capture Box?

Brandon Keith (Biggs) <brandonboy13@...>

Hello,
Is there some way I can get Jaws to read the subtitles at the below link without lots of jumping around?
http://www.metoperafamily.org/met_player/players/free/index.aspx?upc=811357012123_194091920001
When I'm watching a video with multiple people talking the subtitles move around and requires even more jumping.
I'd like something that alerted me there is new subtitles, or that makes Jaws read automatically the text that pops up on the screen.
Is there a way to do this?
Thank you,

Brandon Keith Biggs

Hi list members on my blip fm experiences I am running into an unbelieveable
issue and can’t find a solution. I have found that I can only use NVDA and
then only firefox to read the site correctly but it isn’t clicking where it
is reading. if I hit next it almost is completely randum. I’ve hit a
youtube video when clicking next or give props or reblip this. sometimes as
many as 10 links above where the voice says I’m focused. I can’t spend
credits to give props reblip a song or anything evn skip songs. it started
last friday and it is getting worse by the day. So I need to fix it so
jaw/ie will work with it. So here’s the drill. When I search for a song,
all the links but the songs, flag results or blips are seen. for example if
I want to search for ticket to ride by the beatles, it will in the results
read, “ link Blip, Link the beatles ticket to ride, Link preview, Link flag
this search result.” it reads in that order, but on Jaws and IE th title,
preview blip and flag while they read they don’[t appearas links. on
firefox it’s even worse, blip completely freezes the browser so I can’t
even shut it down. No links headings or tables or lists the form field for
a search comes up for a few seconds then vanishes. it is as if it starts to
load and is stopped by jaws like it to big to handle. so I have sent this
request to NVDA list, the Gui talk list on NFB, and to the tech center at
federation and even to support at blip and told them about this and the
recommendations to have a site administrator look at it. Why does the site
read correct and yet not read correct and if it clearly reads some and
clicks another how to I fix it. no malware on the machine according to
malware bites. the other strange one is this doesn’t seem to happen within
my own page and playlist. there is something when listening to your
favorite DJS that is different. I’d like to give props to DJs and add their
songs to my playlist as I go spending my 190 credits and earning more. need
to find out why this reads right in everny way but 1. The site is

Look at the very short useful help for Webvisum by pressing CTRL+F1

but also three other ways to access Webvisum features.

Hi all,

I am unable to unsubscribe due to my work email putting in characters the

Hi Michael,

Tab works fine, but I need to change the classification of emails which is
just after the subject.

I was hoping there may have been a way to jump from field to field rather
than having to tab multiple times back and forward but seems like this is
not the case.

I have looked at the help and made the changes suggested.

Thank you for your assistance.

Adam,

My agency uses Notes as well. Unfortunately, I don't find Notes as easy to
navigate as Outlook, but I do have it pretty much under control. Notes has
an incredible number of options, and getting the right mix can make the
difference between having a useful tool and a headache.

When you say you want a short-cut to get from field to field, I'm assuming
that the tab key is not working for you. Jaws has a good description of
settings in Notes that you should use to make Jaws work better with Notes.
You'll find this in the Jaws help system, under application support.

Michael

Re: JAWS and advanced use of PC cursor

Guillaume Rieublandou <grieublandou@...>

Hi Ed, thanks for the reply.

I thought about a script, but there are is a major issue with that solution: JAWS doesn't know where the cursor is and what is the mathematical expression. I am using a lot of processing in the background, and the content of the input is not the expression: it is not possible for JAWS to determine what to say at any point, and I am doing the work instead. This is why I was thinking of disabling the normal read until something happens, and it would help a lot if that something could be on the web page.
Alternatively, what I can do is write a script to do that and affect it to a custom hotkey, asking the user to press that hotkey when needed, but it could be very tedious for him and given what I understood about the script, I would have to modify the core scripts and that is never a good solution.

Have you thought about a script.
Arrow keys could default to normal action, that is, pass the arrow key through, except when certain conditions are satisfied.
So, if left arrow is pressed and character immediately to the right is the square root symbol, you could send a custom message, e.g., "out of square root." Of course, you would turn off speech first and then turn it on again, being sure to pass through the cursor.
Of course, your "if" statement in the script wouldn't be limited to the square root symbol, it would simply say what the particular character was, e.g., character to the right after a left arrow and character to the left after a right arrow.
Then, you would simply need to have the scripts distributed with your application.
The problem is that this is a Web application, and I'm not sure how to trigger your scripts with your application and not have them triggered for other web applications.

Subject: JAWS and advanced use of PC cursor

Dear JAWS users,

Disclamer: this email is very technical :)

I am currently developing a web application allowing the user to write, view and edit complex mathematical expressions. For that purpose, I am currently using a heavily modified input that replaces a lot of the normal web browser functions by my own. My current goal is to make that application accessible by blind users using JAWS.

Through a careful use of ARIA tags, including role=application and aria-live, I am able to have the content read perfectly by JAWS when the formula is already written, and one of my last and most difficult issues concern the moment where the user actually edits the formula.
I am trying to reproduce the PC cursor behavior when the user goes through the formula using the arrow keys: what I would like to do is replace the "normal" read by a custom one for mathematical operators. Typically, when the user is inside a square root symbol and presses left, I would like JAWS to say "out of square root". I managed to almost reproduce this behavior by using aria-live areas, but JAWS always tries to read the input content when the arrows are pressed, currently resulting in something like "blank out of square root".
Do you know if it is currently possible to either ask the user to change a JAWS setting by pressing a shortcut or by setting a specific tag somewhere on the page to prevent JAWS to say the character it fails to read in the input, or even tell JAWS directly what to say to avoid that "blank" word ?
Thanks a lot :)

Guillaume Rieublandou

That can be very scarey,I had once an attack by a Trojan when using
kasperskey, which actually no longer worked with jaws, this was in 2008, it
would not let me do a system restore,I wondered after if it was a
protective measure, to stop the Trojan being taken back into the system. I
heard jaws say "Belark obfuscated quaranteen not possible .I asked a
sighted person to kill the thing it said"strike and lace use any key" that
was done a scream was heard, quite awful, but I found all documents on
computer gone only programme andsample photos left. it hit the laptop like
that then went for my desktop,I called a computer engineer and he managed to
kill the Trojans but save computer contents I recorded what he did on a tape
recorder. The Trojan was actually in jaws acting like jaws, hard to explain
they were in an attachment, from local council! 5 trojans, Once it happens
you do not forget it I would always get in a professional to deal with it,I
know it is expensive. dorothy

Richard,

Good suggestion; I would have done the same. However for the benefit of
others on the list it may be that restore will not run, if other programs
are not running.

And even if restore does go back to an earlier time the virus itself may not

be affected if it is lurking in system processes.

As Jackson suggested, Pat may have to resort to a new format of the hard
drive to remove all traces of the virus and install either from their last
known good backup/restore, or install the operating system and programs from

scratch.

One hope for the former and not the latter, for Pat's sake.

Hello

I am running the latest Jaws and XP home.

I got a virus and my windows firewall alert activated -- however my cursor
was frozen and (after getting sighted help) found that I had options of
ignoring the alert and continuing but I could not get to this choice and
Jaws was not reading any of the information.

So, I cannot load Internet Explorer as it activates this virus -- wants me
to use xp security alert 2012 and loads an unregistered version etc. I
normally use Microsoft Security Essentials but I cannot run that either
from the toolbar or from the start menu.

Any advice?
