Good Morning: Yes I've installed the latest update. I've knowledge a
problem with Outlook, when reading a message. If you use the hotkeys to
switch from one message nothing is spoken, where Jaws use to speak next
message or what every was spoken for the past message. Jaws is completely
silent here now.

Hi All, The latest JAWS 13 Update has made navigating the BARD digital book
site difficult.
As a simple test, I went to the site with JAWS 12 without these new
navigation issues.
Have others made this fearless mistake yet? Bombs away! Mitch

Re: Jaws Latest Update Direct Download Links

Adrian Spratt

This update is very interesting. I encountered the same problem at NLS that
Dave Mitchell first alerted us to, and I was glad I was prepared for them.
By contrast, a website that stopped working for me a month ago is suddenly
accessible again. This is the site for a local supermarket that takes online
orders and delivers to the home. After they changed (they would say
upgraded) the website last month, I couldn't make selections on the delivery
day and time page. With this new release, I can.

This experience suggests that FS might have caught up with some recent Web
design coding developments. I can't say for sure if it's true. But I do
believe that the main reason to keep up to date with JAWS has little or
nothing to do with the new bells and whistles that FS publicizes and
everything to do with the changes FS makes but doesn't publicize to keep up
with technical developments on the Web.

I know what you mean! That was the update , 2 updates ago I believe, & I
had the same problem as you on every computer I tried updating J13! What a
pain in the a**!

Anyways, this update seems to go rather smoothely. It does take a little
extra time around the 70% mark but, nothing like the update we have such
fond memories of! LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL Take care.

Just so Dave and it is odd behavior.
First, other sites I have visited with the update might be working a little
better in terms of responsiveness.
When I go to BARD though, I can enter my e mail and password as before but
after logging in, I do not get the list of links as before and can only get
to the links I need by a cumbersome and uncertain amount of tabbing. Then
when I get the familiar array of links in tab form I can proceed with
downloads of books etc.
I know this is an imprecise explanation so I apologize. I think the screen
actually does show the list of links along with other Internet favorites but
access is only working via the tab key.
Maybe others can duplicate this and describe it in proper computer language.
Suffice it to say that many XP users like me will be affected by this if my
test of proper use by JAWS 12 is any clue. Thanks, Mitch

I installed the update and went to bard. After logging in, jaws drops into forms mode making so the arrow keys don't move through the page. m Taking it out of forms mode of course brings the arrow keys back to there usual navigation.
It doesn't do itconsistentanlty, for instance if you go to the google page.

Even if someone uploaded them to DropBox or SendSpace, it would take time for you to download and install the files on your computer. So, save yourself the time and use the update option, under the JAWS Help system or go and download them directly from the FS web site.

Using the newest bill of Jaws 13, out yesterday, I just went into the BARD
page, signed in, and had no dificulty at all. After signing in, I used the
down arrow and it went to the first line of text. Using
Win/7 HP on a 32 B machine, so no problem on this end.

Interesting. The tab key and insert f7 is a more efficient way to navigate to links if that's all you want to do. On the other, hand, you should be able to use the arrow keys as well to navigate through the page and all links and intervening text. this is an interesting bug indeed.

Thanks for the kind word, Mitch. To avoid confusing anyone, the links list
key combo is JAWS key+F7. You get out of this links list either by
pressing
enter on the link you want or with the escape key.
Based on your report, I won't install the newest JAWS release until others
who have XP report their experiences.

Adrian to the rescue again.
He suggested using the F7 feature to create a list of links and this
worked
perfectly.
Never mind that it was unnecessary prior to this latest update but a

Hi,
In doing a bit of looking around on the web, the keystroke you want in
Windows7 is control plus F.
Then just downarrow until you hear "date modified" and after hitting enter,
a variety of options come up.

I have been hearing that there has been a problem with a very recent update
to JAWS. Someone said they installed this update "yesterday, meaning
Wednesday, July 25.

Has anyone heard of a problem with a recent JAWS update which affects
Windows XP and Internet Explorer version 8?

If so, was the implicated update version J13.0.1005-32bit.exe?

Has there been an update since then to fix this problem?

Thank you.
