jaws and graphics card
Kristoffer Gustafsson
Hi.
I've got a graphics card question. I've got an older computer, with an asus motherboard. Today when I started it for the first time, we discovered that the graphics card is broken, So I've got to buy another one. My question now is, can I run jaws on a card with 32 mb graphics memory, or how much do I need to have? /Kristoffer -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Supposedly, you can do it with Google for free.

The mobile site works well though if the only option open to you is webmail.

Is there a keystroke to make openbook to talk faster, and change the pitch? I have openbook 7.02 and Windows XP. I hope to hear from you soon. Re: security
Steve <k8sp@...>
Well, I will disagree slightly with that response. The average person with even a high tech capability doesn't have the wherewithall to test anti-virus programs.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
There are independent labs that test these and you can see the results in reputable magazines. For a free product, Microsoft Security Essentials has tested very high. It rivals most of the commercial anti-virus programs in terms of effectiveness, and it is the top-rated free anti-virus program. Check out the articles in Windows Secrets magazine, which are archived for members, among other places. The thing I like about MSSE is that it is unobtrusive, doesn't pop up any strange dialogs in front of Jaws that you have to kill like AVG did, and it is completely accessible. Steve Lansing, MI

Many people use it; it wouldn't hurt you to try out the programme for yourself and see if you like it. Always remember that there are lots of alternatives available, and that's almost always a good thing....

Latest Avast is very screen reader friendly in fact. I use it from the beginning and I'm satisfied with it.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
You should switch off the filter for potentialy harmful programs and won't be iritated so offten if you wish it. But I don't recommend it. David said the following on 26.7.2011. 16:53:

WordPerfect X5 script
Marijan Janev
Hi Friends,
Because I have to use WP15 on a 32-bit win7 machine, and jaws11 and 12 don't come with any script for that program, I have to add a line in the ConfigNames.ini something like wpwin15=WordPerfect X3 in order to use WP13 scripts under the 15. But I faced the problem - when I move character by character PC-cursor doesn't read the unicode characters like Cyrilic letters, and speaks only Euro, euro, etc. It happens independantly on the fact if the reveals codes are switched on or off. I'm not a scripter at all and don't know what causes the function SayCharacter in the script not to function properly. Is there any idea or suggestion how to solve this problem? It's very important for me, unfortunately. Thanks in advance for any help. M. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Re: Putting your response first, was: security
Steve <k8sp@...>
Part of the reason for putting your response on top is it is a lot easier to see it with a screen reader than to go to the bottom and work up. But a lot of newsgroups that I'm on with sighted participants, there is a larger group, though not a majority, that put their responses on the bottom.

That said, quoting specific parts of a message to which you intend to respond is a nice habit to get into, though it's hardly necessary for non-technical lists where there's really neither much debate or jargon, like this one.

Help with what. I remember you said you were having problems changing your subscription settings. If that is the case you need to look at the link at the bottom of the emails from the forum. It is easy to change your settings.

Alva Satelite
Németh Dávid <gerdave87@...>
Hello all,
i have a 70 cell Alva Satellite Pro braille display, but there are 2 cells near to the left edge, which are broken. I wanted to set Jaws to start displaying text on the 8th cell, which is the first of all the good cells. In JConfig, on the Braille Settings Dialog, within the Advanced Display settings, there are 2 fields for the start and end position. However, according to the help, these settings can be used only for Pac Mate and Focus displays. Can't users modify these values for other devices? Thanks for your answer With best regards, Dávid
