Or just do a repair. I was thinking a minute ago. I didn't explain it well, but I wasn't ENTIRELY wrong. I think someone said that punctuation could only be changed at the default level, and that is inaccurate. You can fiddle with any profile, and instruct it to load only with the application(s) you choose. With my Bible, I use one called NAB, and it loads every time the Bible does. If I tab away, the default takes over, then NAB reverts when I return focus.

No, punctuation can be set any way you want in any or all profiles. Default here refers to "all applications," not to a particular profile. To quickly and easily reach "default" in settings center, just tab up once from the search box and tap D.

The only way to set default punctuation is to adjust it in your default profile. For some reason, in recent versions of JAWS, FS made punctuation setting ridiculously cumbersome.
The short description of how to create a profile is to open the JAWS context menu with insert-j, then press enter on options. Arrow down once to "voices."
Here, you have two choices, which you also select with the up or down arrow key and by pressing enter. One is for voice adjustment and the other for profiles. Actually, both involve profiles.

Having wlm troubles with Jaws
Brandon Keith Biggs <brandonboy13@...>
Hello, in WLM, with Jaws 11 on a windows 7 64 bit computer, I’m suffering! I’m not able to read the subject, cc or contact fields, when ever I erase or arrow through it just says “space” and I have to count letters to make sure I’m removing the letters I want. That was fine. But now, I’m finding that when I hit the applications key on a word, wlm freezes up. Also sometimes when I’m arrowing back and forth, or when I’m doing spell check, jaws will read the line with the up and down arrow, but it won’t read any letters except the one that I just typed. When this happens, I have to restart jaws. I’m wondering if there is any way to stop this? Thanks, Brandon Keith Biggs -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Greetings all.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with win7, 64 bit and jaws 13. I don't like punctuation marks to be announced. I had it set to "none";
but jaws continued to announce them. I spoke to FS tech support, who
advised me to change it to "some". I did; and still most punctuation marks
get announced. Is this an unfixable bug in Jaws 13? Or is there a way around it?
Thanks very much in advance. Michelle abadia Michelle.abadia@...

next page, and perform OCR again. repeat as necessary.
Convenient OCR is no substitute for an actual OCR application. It's a quick solution for times when you may not be able to access
information, such as a pesky installation screen or short PDF document. It's not meant for book reading.
For that you'll want one of the blindness specific OCR packages like
K1000 or Openbook, or an off-the-shelf OCR application like Omnipage, FineReader, etc.

Re: Punctuation announcements on jaws 13

It's been a while since I've worked with this area of JAWS, and I'm in a rush right now. See if this is enough information to get you going. If not, please post again and I'll give more complete directions later if no one else has. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounces@... Convenient OCR is no substitute for an actual OCR application. It's a quick solution for times when you may not be able to access information, such as a pesky installation screen or short PDF document. It's not meant for book reading.
For that you'll want one of the blindness specific OCR packages like K1000 or Openbook, or an off-the-shelf OCR application like Omnipage, FineReader, etc.
