Actually, you can have as many permanent ones as you like. To add a second, or a third, etc., reopen the dialog and tab to “Add.” Press the spacebar, then tab through your options. Just keep in mind that if you have a lot on one document, you might defeat the convenience of placemarkers.

So it is better to make a permanent one and when I want one further down, delete the first one somehow and make another permanent one?

Hi Karen,

You need to make them permanent using the steps outlined by Adrian. You can only have one temporary place marker at a time, so are not very useful just by themselves.
