Bill,  I get it, I just said that that situation hadn't happened yet to me, so I didn't know that WMP acted like that.  Although I do rip my CDs to MP3 at 320 BPS, I had considered re-ripping them as FLAK and if I did, I would have had this problem, so I guess that I should Thank You  for saving me the headache.

Hi, Marty. Here's a couple of scenarios in which you might want to rip a CD more than once.

 

1. Suppose you ripped a CD for sharing on a media list, but didn't save the files after you were done sending them to the list. Then you needed to share them again in six months or so. You couldn't rip the CD again to get the files a second time.

 

2. Suppose you had ripped a CD, and ripped them in mp3 format. Then, later you needed them in wav or flac format. You couldn't rip the files again, to get them in an alternate format.

That is interesting.  I have never tried to rip a CD a second time, so I hadn't run into that situation.

Windows Media Player does a fantastic job at this.  Over 300 CDs ripped and still going.
