Thank you to all who tried to help with this issue, but especially to
Ben and Robin. The problem was exactly as you both had indicated.
Every slide has from 3 to 6 lines of text, all preceded with a bullet
point. I had no idea that these bullet points were animations, but as
soon as I disabled animations in the slide show, everything started
working as I wanted, i.e. when I press the spacebar, I am taken to the
next slide.

Our presentation is tomorrow evening, so I really appreciate you
solving this issue for me!

turn off animations on the copy I'm reading. Go to the Slide Show ribbon

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a PowerPoint presentation using JAWS 2022, latest update. We
are using Office 365.

I will be presenting with a co-worker virtually through Microsoft Teams. My
co-worker will be sharing her screen and running the PowerPoint
presentation, and I will be using another copy of the PowerPoint
presentation and following along. I will be speaking on some of the slides,
and she will be speaking on others.

The problem I am running into is that, in slide show view, when I press the
spacebar to switch to the next slide, the slide doesn't switch on the first
press of the spacebar. On some slides it takes 2 or 3 presses, on others 4
or 5. If I try to press the spacebar quickly to try to swithch slides,
sometimes I will press the spacebar too many times and, as a result, end up
skipping over the next slide. It seems like the focus moves to each line of
text on the slide at each press of the spacebar, instead of switching
slides.

My question is, is there a way to have the slide switch on the first press
of the spacebar?

I'm not sure this is a JAWS issue, as my sighted co-worker says that the
same thing happens when she presses the spacebar on her copy of the slide
show, and she's not running JAWS.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
