Hello Morey:

In Excel, check the Options > Advanced dialog to see if allow editing directly in cells is checked. In extremis this is what I would do barring simply upgrading to the most current version of Excel.

Probably have to do that, or other alternative way for me , just use
Jaws 2020 all the time, for now , lol.
