Have you ever heard about blind and sighted people working together? There is a difference between "assistance" and "collaboration". In my case there is also the fact that I may have 3 customers coming into my office inside half an hour and in some cases I may want them to see the screen because maybe I want to show them a product and in some cases I may not want them to see the screen if I have to look up the cost of a product because they are asking me for a deal and I have to check if I can give them one or not. I don't know what you do for work, but it seems you are mostly doing it alone.

Because if you work in an environment with sighted people who may want
to look at your monitor turning it off and on many times a day is
inconvenient whereas for Jaws users the screen shade key sequence is
easy, quick and effective. And there is the fact that continuously
turning electronic devices on and off can sometimes do more harm than
it does good.

Why not just turn off the monitor completely?
Or if it is a laptop with a separate keyboard, keep the lid closed,
and set the power options to do nothing when the lid is closed.
It saves energy too.
