You are welcome.  I do a lot of proof reading and have developed a lot of JAWS tweaks that help.  If you would like to chat you can contact me off list at

Hi Shirley,

After you tab down to the suggested list and your word is not there, I find I can shift-tab back up to the misspelled word.  The focus is at the end of the word.   I use insert-left arrow, which places the cursor at the beginning of the misspelled word.  I can type the correct word, space once and use ctrl-del to delete the misspelled word.  Hit ALT-C to make the change.   Spell checker moves on to the next error.

Subject: Help with spell check, please

Hi everyone,

I’m using Windows 10, latest version of JAWS, and MS Home and Student 2019. I’m trying to spell check a large document. If a word is spelled wrong, and none of the choices are what I want, but I find the correct spelling of the word, how do I enter it, myself, without getting out of spell check? I’m having trouble with this. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Cheerfully,

Shirley Tracy
