Well, no matter what way you go at this time, including using a different platform, it's a workaround.

And you are absolutely correct that the root cause needs to be corrected.  This really could be an "oops" on the part of someone that just involves the generation of this particular promotion message, but they need to figure out why it happened to begin with in order to prevent it happening again.  And let's face it, Starbucks is a company that's both motivated to make sure its advertising is as effective as possible, particularly the type that encourages a "purchase train" even if it's with a loss leader.  They're also well aware of the PR ramifications of intentionally making something inaccessible and leaving it that way, and don't want that, either.
