One more step, in case you’ve already been working with search-and-replace. When you tab to the replace field, press the delete key and no other. This ensures nothing replaces the > symbols.

Press, Control + H, and in the find field type the, Greater sign, shift + period.

 

Now press, Alt + A, to remove all.  You should get a report of how many were removed / replaced if using Word.
