OK Problem sorted – I did a Windows System restore back to yesterday before I installed the latest Jaws update and everything is back to normal now.

I think this is one update I will skip.

I know this isn’t the best news you want, however, I think it will be the best solution at end of the day.

I would start with a complete new install, so I would remove everything during the uninstall but be sure to save your user files before removing JAWS. In my opinion, removing the shared files will remove any corruption to the JAWS hooks that get used.

You can use narrator of course to help with the new install of JAWS.

Jaws with eloquence is speaking fine – it is the sound events which are the issue.

Yes Narrator and NVDA are working fine.

Are you able to get sound using narrator which is part of windows 10?

 

 

 

Dear List

After installing the latest Jaws 2021 April Update this week I have lost all Jaws sounds  events – that is no form field sound, no sound if I press insert space etc.

I have also checked Speech and sound scheme and it is set to classic as normal.

I have checked settings centre and Jaws sounds is set to on, as is Form Field sounds.

 

I have run a repair of Jaws but still no joy in restoring Jaws Sounds. Windows system sounds like the sound events in Microsoft 365 are still working fine.

Any suggestions?
