Yes, that is a good idea.
I have run across sites like this where there is something that needs to be clicked on next to the edit field that won’t open. This usually then opens up a calendar where the date can be chosen.

Clarence, Do you have a smart phone, such as an iPhone? I highly recommend using AIRA service for these frustrating website issues. You can get 5 minutes of personal assistance every few hours. They also used to have a promotion for free support to job seekers; I don’t know if that is still going. Look at the www.aira.io website. Essentially, you load an app on your phone that allows you to call into a set of trained personal, visual assistants who can use your phone camera to see what is going on and guide you. You can additionally load a program on your computer that will allow the assistant to access your computer to actually do tasks for you, but this is not necessary. I’ve used the service on some applications at work that are not fully accessible with JAWS.

I have run across a job aplication page which requires dates to be entered. Is there a way to open a non editing edit box? The page will not let me move forward without these dates in place.
Is there a shortcut key which overides a non editing edit box? This communication may contain privileged and/or confidential information. It is intended solely for the use of the addressee. No confidentiality or privilege is waived or lost as a result of any transmission errors. If you are not the
