It is sent as an attachment, so go to the message before this, and open the attachment. If you’d like, you can e-mail me privately at apiccinino@.... Then, I’ll send the file again so you’re sure to get it. I’m not sure if the group can receive attachments, so it’s probably blocked. You can probably still find it in the Focus Braille display documentation on Freedom Scientific’s website.

I got it here in Australia. it cost about $4500 Australian. It's a 40 cell display with a braille keyboard.  I'm still working out how to use it so cant tell you anything else at this point.

I can answer the mute question.

Press insert+space, then s.

That puts it into Speech On Demand.  So, if you issue a reading command, it will read, otherwise it will stay silent.

That is a toggle, so do insert+space and then s again to go back to full speech.

I believe there are focus commands to navigate the computer, but you would need to get the Jaws documentation on using the Focus, and I do not know if that is in BRF anywhere.

You may want to call them.

Subject: new to jaws after 10 years using a mac

 Hello all,

I recently purchased my first windows pc for over ten years and have jaws 2020. I also have a Focus braille display.

First of all, is there a way of navigating the screen using the focus display? Switching between display and keyboard is quite annoying, or perhaps I just need to get used to it. Also, how do I mute the speech and then unmute it again when necessary.

Lastly, is there a document, or book [in brf or word] with help on how to use jaws? I don't do well with audio and prefer a written reference if possible.

Thank you so much for your help.
