moderated Re: Alt + F2 takes you in to the gallery view in Zoom
Whomever said you had to have gallery view to participate is completely wrong.
Our church uses Zoom and you can connect with or without a camera and the view on your side makes no difference whatever.
The host can control the view for them, and maybe they just need a little help in the zoom details?

I have used Zoom on many occasions on a laptop without a camera so no you do not need one. The participants hear you but there is no view obviously of you just an icon with your name.
In fact for many Zoom meetings you do not even need a computer or smart phone being able to access them with a normal landline phone.
About 50% of those attending my NFB meetings access Zoom in this way.

I don’t have one on my computer either.
I’m pretty sure you have to have a camera. I don’t have one on my computer and that’s what I was told by Jaws.
I did try this when I was in a meeting, but I didn’t hear a sound or a word of confirmation. I think Gallery is a visual setting, and I don’t think you can enter into it unless you have a camera. I could be wrong.
According to the latest release of Zoom, Alt F2 takes you into the gallery view. I believe you have to be on a meeting screen for this to take effect.
