Re: Creating an Outline in Word

In Word 2007 and 2010 you can press enter on the multi-level list button on
the home tab. It will let you choose from all different kinds of bullets
and various styles of outline numbering. You tab to demote an item and
shift tab to bring an item out again. Using the headings method is great if
you're going to insert text later, but it isn't really necessary if you just
need a basic outline. Also, your fonts will be all different styles and
sizes if you use headings to do this.

Subject: Re: Creating an Outline in Word

Rob,

I would be very careful in editing your built-in styles unless you really
understand how to manipulate styles and templates.

Are you wanting to create an outline with a hierarchy such as I 1. i 1)
etc.? Sorry but I don't know the correct outline order off the top of my
head. If you do, then you simply choose numbered outline style on the format

menu.

The following refers to Word 2003, but the concepts are the same.
