Okay when I hit alt v it says vurtal ribbon do I need to change something.

Hair splitting correction, and sometimes it can matter:  ALT+V (View Ribbon), AB (quickly, together for arrangement), W (toggle for Show in Groups, on by default).

There are a number of 2-character together shortcut sequences, and there are the odd occasions where waiting too long between each character of the pair can have unexpected results.
