moderated Re: How to create a new folder

The ribbon is simply a different form of a menu and it's not so difficult if you understand how to navigate them with the arrows, tab and Control + Right r Left arrow to go to different groups in the ribbon.
Then of course there are the keyboard shortcuts which you can remember for things you do often such as Alt + 2 for New Folder or Alt + F followed by I and E which in a protected Excel or Word file is the shortcut for "Enable Editing".

Hello Alison:

Personally, I have always hated, loathed and detested the ribbon system, first introduced in Office 2007. And, now that it has been included in File Manager for Windows 10, I hate, loath and detest it, even more.

It is amazing how many different ways there are to do the same thing. I
think the control shift n to open a new folder is probably the easiest but I
only discovered this after months of going to the view tab on the ribbon and
shift tabbing back to "create new folder".

open a context menu where you want to create the folder. then press enter on
new, there you will have the option to create a folder, bit map image, text
document etc.

Hi Listers,

Now that I have Windows 10 and JAWS 2020, I can’t figure out how to create a
new folder. It used to be really easy, but I can’t do it the way I used to.
Please help.

Thanks for any help.

Clueless,

Shirley Tracy
