Wow! That does sound great.
My current laptop is an Intel Core i7 8650U, 8GB DDR4-RAM, 512GB SSD, Radeon RX540 2GB Graphics, 14" Full HD Display. So maybe it’s not powerful enough to handle Outlook, OneDrive and Jaws running at the same time, although this is the most powerful laptop I could find.

I have an Asus Zenbook which I bought in November of 2016. At the time it was a fairly high-end laptop, 15 inch 4K touch screen display, I7 sixth generation CPU, 16Gb of RAM and a 512 Gb SSD. It also has great battery life even now and it’s been a fantastic machine.
It makes it so much more difficult to identify the problem when only a few of us experience it. However, I’ve found the same problem with all the laptops I’ve used in the last few years – Toshiba, Asus and now my HP. My new HP is more responsive but it’s been crashing since I’ve started to use OneDrive, particularly when I search for something in Outlook.
I guess I’ll just have to go back to Dropbox but that won’t help people who are using OneDrive at their workplace and experiencing these problems.
Mor or less the same here, I use OneDrive and Outlook via Office 365 as well as Jaws 2020. There are a few things which could be a bit more responsive in Outlook, but generally going through my inbox, opening messages and so on seem OK.
There are so many factors involved from your hardware to your specific configuration and this certainly doesn’t seem to be an issue which a lot of Jaws users experience. I am not saying some don’t experience it, but it definitely doesn’t seem like even close to any sort of majority do.
I’m using exactly this combination – JAWS, Microsoft Outlook, and OneDrive , with no “lag” or similar issues.
If you’re still using an old-style spinning hard drive rather than a fast SSD, this could explain the problem. Ideally, these days, you should use an NVME solid-state drive. The laptop that I run Windows on has one. If it isn’t the drive, it could be lack of memory. System Information should show how much memory is in use.

You’re right, the lag doesn’t only occur when OneDrive is sincing. OneDrive, Outlook and Jaws open together don’t play well at all. Outlook also crashes when I try to search for particular emails. It’s definitely a Jaws issue as it doesn’t occur with NVDA.
And the issue definitely involves OneDrive because when I delete OneDrive and go back to Dropbox, Outlook plays beautifully when open with Jaws and Dropbox.
I hope this makes sense.
Yes, I use OneDrive for work and do experience the lag when folders are being synchronized. I think, though, that I am having the lag in Outlook even when no synchronization is occurring. I’ll have to double check that, though.
I recall speaking with a MS disability help desk tech and he said it’s not possible to disable the synchronizing and I understand.
Is there a workaround for this? And, again, I can’t help wonder why the lag is worse with J 2020.
I need to take time to call Vispero about this.

In order to remedy some of your lagging problems, it would be best to make sure that the Outlook Reading Pane is turned off. When the Reading Pane is on, it causes a small window to the right bottom of the Inbox to show part of the message being highlighted. This can cause Outlook to noticeably lag when moving between the messages.
If you continue to have problems, it would be best if you would contact our Technical Support Department by telephone at (727) 803-8000 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday at 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM EST.
I do notice a delay from the time I press enter to open a message until the time when JAWS begins reading the message. I first thought that this was an Outlook issue but I don't notice this delay as much when performing the same task using NVDA. With the preview pane disabled navigating through messages in the message list is responsive but opening a message is not.
