Hi, I don’t take mine everywhere with me, simply because I have another laptop which is my main machine for work and other things, however…. I can’t speak for new, but I bought mine used for $1,400 Canadian dollars, which included the braille display and elbraille itself – I can’t get the braille display for that price brand new here. Remember that this also comes with a sim card slot for mobile data – something that seems to be overlooked – and that it is a one piece device. Most laptops that come with a sim tray start at $1000 on their own. I hate carrying two devices – having to find a place to set the laptop so I can work on my braille display, or vice versa, is just too much of a headache to me, and I can still detach the display if I want to use this with my phone or other computer. Plus, it is still much more compact than a regular laptop – at least the 14 cell version, and lasts for 3 times as long as any laptop out there. I wouldn’t say that convenience factor is worth the price of a brand new elbraille unit, to me, but if I were to get a braille display I likely wouldn’t be bothered transporting along with my regular computer, either, which means it wouldn’t get used. I still don’t use it as much as I should, but it is here and working if I ever need it, along with the computer it is attached to.

Having everything in a single, compact device has its advantages. Whether that’s worth the price depends on each individual’s needs and circumstances.

I have ben wondering, for the price, what is the advantage of using the El Braille instead of a small laptop and a Braille display! My laptops are only $250.00! I use win10 and everything! I have never been able to figure this out, and I was wondering what you use the El Braille for that makes it worth the price from Vispero? David More
