Open Excel. Hit alt+f and arrow up to options. Arrow down to
advanced, tab to "edit directly in cells, and uncheck it by
hitting space bar. Tab to ok and hit enter.

Hi,
I just reinstalled jaws from scratch, and
still have the same issue.
How do I check this other editing thing?
Thanks,
Jessica
Well here we go…like I said earlier you
need to have the ex. Downloaded to your device, and then make
sure all Microsoft programs I mean word outlook etc are not
running.
It works with narrator, because the both
are created by Microsoft. LOL
I then wonder why it works with
Narrator.

Enableing eidting in Excel
I wonder if the problem might be the editing in cell option
in advanced is turned on. I know that has caused some
problems in the past, but it didn't seem to on my current
install.

Excel runs just fine with office 365
I use it every day.
Do you install from the web site or
do you down the ex. From the site and then install.
Also be sure you have everything not
running I mean all programs outlook and others.
If you already have 2020 downloaded
you can run it again and have it do a repair.
Hi,
I was using jaws2019.
I could also install NVDA, which I
may do.
Thanks,
Jessica
I think it would be better to
install Jaws 2018 and have it handy in case this
happens again.

,
No, still didn’t work.
Should I completely uninstall jaws
and reinstall?
Right now, I have to use narrator
to edit this file.
Thanks,
Jessica
Did you try hitting escape when
it opens up?
I know that in word, that allows
editing.

Hi,
No, it is private.
How do I know what setting needs
to be changed?
Thanks,
Jessica

If you are ok with this send me
the file and I will see what is happening.
Send to me off list, please.
Hi,
So, f6 didn’t work.
I toggled scroll lock and still
nothing.

Jessica
I,
No messages, using office 365 and
jaws2020.
I’ll try fnf6.
For me, f6 by itself its mute.
Thanks,
Jessica
It all depends on why you can't edit it. If it is
protected, you have to turn that off. Another thing
I've found that made things get really weird is if
you accidentally have scroll lock turned on, in
which case it might seem like you can't edit because
moving the cursor around doesn't seem to do
anything.
Do you get any messages about protection when you
open the spreadsheet, have you pressed f6 to see
what might be going on in the other areas? Btw,
what version of office are we talking about here?

I have found that Jaws 2018
works better in my spread sheets than Jaws
2019 does.
I experience that same
problem using 2019.
