If using the Focus 14 or 40 5th Generation, bring the display settings up and find Rest.

Press Enter on Rest and you will see at the far left of the display a number, using the up or down rocker bar will change the length of time before the braille display goes to sleep. The longest lenght you can have is 45.

Original message:

There is a sleep time in the menu of that Braille display, you can get
to it by using the thumb keys when a screen reader is not using the
display.

Well, I think she needs to either call Freedom Scientific or Humanware to figure out why it is going to sleep at that point.
That is not normal.

Humanware:
Toll-free phone (US only) 1 800 722-3393
E-mail: support@humanware.com

Freedom Scientific:
You can call the Technical Support department for all Freedom Scientific products at 727-803-8600 Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 7 PM, Eastern Time.
