Copy and paste work in the areas where they are supposed to work. And that's good. I sure use them a lot too. But as has been said, it's not the same thing; not all software has an edit menu with those options and not all items are clipboard accessible. It's kind of an essential feature and yes, it's probably worth making a fuss about.
