the problem is that that also disables correct spelling as you type, and correct grammar as you type. It does not, however, disable the awesome buzzer when JAWS finds a misspelled word.

Using JAWS 2019 and Word 365 I entered the characters : and ) (without spaces) to have Word autocorrect it into the smiling face with smiling eyes emoji, as the previous example advised. Word did convert it into the emoji. When I place the cursor on the emoji JAWS announces "alt shift F10 to adjust autocorrection." This announcement can be disabled by pressing insert+V to access the JAWS Quick Settings dialog. Look for "autocorrect detection", disable it and that suppresses the announcement.

While I can see how this announcement can be annoying I personally don't want to not know when a word or phrase has been autocorrected. What I think Vispero should have is an option to have this particular notification being announced as a unique sound. It could be quick, ideally non-intrusive but distinct enough so as to let the user know that this alert means that an autocorrect took place. I may also suggest this to Brian Hartgen to see if he might feel it's worth adding to Leasey. I should enable the sounds option from within Word as I'm wondering if there is a unique sound that this option might have for autocorrect notifications.

Hi Tom!

You may already know this, but alt+shift+F10 is the equivalent of a "alt-right mouse click" when on something that has been auto corrected. For example, a : ) (without the space) is auto corrected to a 😊 . this sort of auto correction is not exactly the same as a spelling auto correction. An alt+shift+F10 brings up a context menu relative to the auto correction. Perhaps there is some odd setting in your verbosity setting?

Nino:

I have done this, but the problem continues.

Am going to try the other suggestions I have received for dealing with the issue.

Thank you!

Good morning:

When Jaws starts doing that I unload Jaws and restart Jaws again.

I have a hot key assigned so I can start Jaws quickly.

Have a good day.

Ann:

I thought I already had unchecked auto-correct under editing, but I'll double-check just to be sure.

It amazes me how these things kind of appear out of nowhere.

You can get rid of it by unchecking, under editing, auto correct detection. This will make Spelling error detection and grammatical error detection unavailable. Go figure!

Tom,
I forwarded your email to vispero technical support. This is very
strange behavior, and jaws shouldn't act like that. I'll forward the
response to the list as soon as I hear back.
Jay.

Hello, everyone.

I have recently noticed a problem when reading through a list of items
in a Microsoft Word document.

As I read down through the list, Jaws says alt shift F10, seemingly at random.

As you can imagine, this is quite an anoying distraction, and I̢۪m
wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

I̢۪m using the latest build of Jaws 2019 with Of Office 2016 on a Windows
