I see a few problems with the mentioned Dell laptop and have a few
recommendations which would give you a better machine.
Firstly it comes with 32 bit windows which can only use 3 GB of the 4
GB installed RAM so I would recommend 64 bit windows. Then another
thing, as a jaws user you don't need a graphics card like that, you
can rather get one with a smaller graphics card and a bigger hard
drive maybe 750 GB or even a TB in this laptop class. The final thing
which is a small technical point and depends what you'll use the
machine for, the processor is 2.2 GHz core i7 with 6 MB cash, if
possible rather look for something with 8 MB cash even if it's only a
2 GHz core i7.
I'm pritty clued up on computers so just ask if you need any further help.

Laptop: Dell E6520 has a numeric keypad and well-sculptured keys.
It's a bit large because of the keypad. Also works with a docking station
(port replicator) for quick disconnect, and you can purchase an additional
battery "slice" for longer portable operating time. I really like this one,
and the Dell Latitude is a workhorse for the business world.

Subject: [Bulk] new on the list
I joined this list a few days ago, and am pleased to recognize a few names
from other lists and previous JFW lists.
I will be upgrading my Jaws sometime this year from version 8 to 13. I feel
it will be almost like relearning everything, as so much has been added
since version 8.
As part of my upgrade, I will also be buying a new computer, and would like
anyone's recommendations for the following 2 items.
1. I want to get a laptop preferrably with a keypad if such a thing exists.
Otherwise, well differentiated keys, good battery life, and durable. A
full-sized laptop is fine.
2. I am also looking for a small netbook that will have more limited use. I
want the netbook to be small and durable with a reasonably tactile keyboard.
This device does not need to be as new, as I am willing to shop secondhand
As I know nothing about laptops and small computers, whether they be
netbooks, notebooks or ultra mini PCs, any experiences are welcome. Are
there things I should be aware of concerning JAWS when looking for laptops
or smaller PCs? E.g., video cards, onboard software that might be a problem,
A committee can make a decision that is dumber than any of its members.
