It just opens back doors that allow other viruses to enter your computer. It also said that it cripples some functions in Windows. You should be good for a day or two, but I wouldn’t let it hang around very long.

Bill, How quickly should I get this virus removed? If I cannot find someone with sight to help, should I leave my laptop off until I can find someone?
Cheers,

Hi, Kevin. This is a tricky infection to eradicate. My suggestion is to call the Microsoft Answer desk.
800-936-5900
They have a lot of tools, and can look on their knowledge base to see the best way to remove the ABSunset virus. The problem you’re going to have is that you may need to start your computer in safe mode. During this time in safe mode, the Microsoft tech will not be able to connect with, and control your computer.

I used MRT and it came back saying there were no threats found. I turned off my laptop and turned it back on. The ABSunset virus still exists. Now what?

Have you tried removing this virus using the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (MRT)? To run MRT, type “MRT” into the Run dialog (Windows key-R).

I looked on the internet to see how to remove it. Windows defender couldn’t do anything with it. The information on the web says to download SpyHunter. Does anyone know of SpyHunter? Should windows defender be able to handle this virus?
