Thanks for being so patient with me. Yes, I think I’ve got it now. J Sorry it took so much back and forth.



I’m assuming I don’t have laptop keyboard configuration because my laptop has a numpad like a free-standing keyboard. I didn’t think – didn’t know - to mention that when I first asked my question. There are so, so many things everyone else seems to know that I don’t have a clue about – makes me nervous to even ask.

Yes, I assumed that she already had Jaws set for the laptop keyboard configuration.



As for the AC power notification when the computer is plugged in, I tried to indicate that this would tell her she was on normal electrical power, and that her battery was charging.



At least I think she’s got it now.

Hi, Tom. It didn’t work for her, because, although she has a laptop, she’s not using Laptop Keyboard Layout. In order for it to work for her, she needed to press JAWS key plus Shift key plus B. She got AC Connected, meaning, she is using her laptop with it plugged in, and is not on battery power.

The percentage should just be announced.



Again, be sure you are hitting both the shift lock and shift keys together before pressing the letter B.

Tom,



Well, still no luck. I have pressed the shift keys on both the left and right of the keyboard together with caps lock and then the letter b. The only thing that happens is that caps lock on and the b is announced, along with a little beep sound to indicate caps on or off.



Should I be arrowing to somewhere or should the percentage just be announced?

Yes, they should work.



Be sure to press the shift and shift lock key simultaneously, followed by the letter B. as in bravo.

When using my Windows 7 laptop with Jaws 2018 here, I hit shift capslock B. … This will give me the percentage of charge left in my battery. If the computer is plugged in, it will indicate that the battery is charging.



The battery will charge while using your computer when plugged in. However, it is good to occasionally unplug the laptop in order to let the battery cycle through a charge to preserve its life as long as possible.

Please help –



I have a laptop and want to know – step by step please - how to find out how much battery power is left before I have to charge it again. Also, does the machine have to be off and plugged in to charge, or will it charge while plugged in and is in use?
