When I had it disabled JAWS was often not responsive at log on and did not help situation at desktop. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Friday, May 11, 2018 4:37 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: start jaws automatically after log in Turning off fast startup may have an effect on Jaws speaking at the login screen, but it should not affect Jaws starting once you put in your password or PIN and the desktop loads. In what way did turning this off make things worse, this is something I have never heard, it just means Windows doesn't save certain things when it shuts down and in fact loading Windows from scratch usually is always a better option. In any case, this also presumes that this is on a laptop since I have never seen the fast startup ooption on any of my desktops, only on my laptop. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Dan Longmore Sent: Friday, May 11, 2018 1:11 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: start jaws automatically after log in Tried that and it made things worse for me so I had to restore it but that may be a solution. -----Original Message----- From: main@jfw.groups.io <main@jfw.groups.io> On Behalf Of Marten Post Uiterweer Sent: Friday, May 11, 2018 3:54 PM To: main@jfw.groups.io Subject: Re: start jaws automatically after log in Richard, I had the same problem. Jaws was not speaking at boot time after updating windows. The solution was to turn off fast boot. Tis was turned on by the windows update. Go to Control Panel Power Options Choose what the power buttons do and (Untick) fast boot. Probably all of these don't necessarily need to be set the same way as I have them for JAWS to start successfully at login, but for what it's worth, here's my settings. If you don't have them set this way, you might want to try these settings to see if anything improves. automatically after log in. I can get it to load before sign in but then it is not running after I have logged in. I really don't need or want to load before sign In, but I do want it to load after log in.
