I myself have not used excel for my calculations or stats work, but I know
it works and is possible. The data package is separate from the standard
excel; I think it's something that needs to be purchased extra. I'm about
to
turn in for the night, but tomorrow I'll try to find the info for a couple
of other lists serves for math and science which might be able to help you
out more.

Is the data package seperate from what is already included in excel? I
apparently will be needing a lot of statistics help as I finish my B.A. in
Psychology and go on to hopefully get a PhD. Have you used excel to do a
lot of the calculations? This is one thing we have talked about doing.

Unfortunately SPSS does not work well with Jaws at all. I've taken three
stats related courses over the last three semesters and was not able to
use
SPSS myself. You have a couple other options, as excel has a data package
that your school can get so you can use excel to do all the work in your
class. It's not the best solution as excel is not as powerful as SPSS,
and
you have to do much of the work manually. Another option, this is the one
I
use in my classes, is to ask your professor if it would be possible to do
the spss part of the course with a partner. This way you could learn the
basic workings and commands for spss and work with your partner to enter
the
data, but not be responsible for actually using it yourself. I hope this
helps, and let me know if you have any more questions.
