Setting the zoom to 110% also solves the problem.

First, Go into Word options. Arrow down to Advanced. Tab to the check box which will allow documents to open in draft mode, and check it.

 

Then, to get into draft mode, Open Word. Press the F6 key twice. Tab to the Draft Mode check box and check it. Then documents will open in Draft Mode.
