yes, I'm totally sure, I got some light perception on my right eye not enough to distinguish a thing but I made one of my relatives to confirm this feature and now I'm working with screen shade all the time since before this new feature when I just simply turned off my monitor I hardly could be sure if it really was turnd off.

Which version of Windows are you using? It requires Windows 8 or
Windows 10.

I've just installed the new JAWS update on my windows 10 desktop and
tried the Screen Shade feature. It reports that it it's on and yet I
don't see any difference on my screen. Has anyone else experienced
this?
