Re: Pearl camera

Openbook can save images in TIFF format, so I guess you could scan with
Openbook, and then recognize with some other application -- but why bother?
Openbook will just read them directly.

I would be interested to know whether it's possible to save the images and
process them with another application. I suspect not, but I don't know for
sure.

According to what I've read, JAWS 2018 can now use the camera directly in
its OCR function. I haven't bought one, but I did notice the VFO
advertisement. I'm particularly interested in scanning printed mail, and I
may also need reliable book scanning in the future.

From my experience, the Pearl camera only works with Openbook. It cannot be
used with other scanning applications. If anyone knows different, let me
know.

Anyone got any experience with using the Pearl Camera versus a flat bed
scanner for use with Jaws 2018? Just got the notice that the Pearl
camera is on sale for users of Jaws 2018. Is the Pearl easier to use?
Does it produce better scanning results over a flat bed scanner?
Thanks
