That only works in Firefox. In IE you can go to options and disable sounds, animations, pictures  and whatever else you dont need. If your internet is slow Pages load faster without pictures.
Dont know about Chrome.

which browser?
i only use firefox so i don't know about other browsers.
and i don't know if you can make it perminant but with firefox press control m to mute the sound when an add starts playing.
but it turns back on when you go to another web page.

Until recently, I really didn’t run into websites that automatically played a
commercial or video clip when you got to it. Seems like this is more prevalent
now . Is there a way to keep these videos from auto playing and disrupting my
navigation of the site? Is there a downside to disabling this globally, if
that option even exists? I do not normally want the audio ducking feature in
JAWS on, in case I am really trying to listen to a video.
