FS Cast

Carol Smith

Speaking of FS Cast, my default media player is Winamp. I play mp3 and videos with it all of the time. Can someone tell me why every time I get a jaws notification for a new podcast, if I click on play it now, it tries to open media player. Of course, since I do not use it, every time, I am prompted to set it up. How can I get the programs to run in Winamp, which they do if I go to the web page and download them to my pc first. Thanks.

Yes, listservs will definitely teach you what is not in the manual. You really gain a valuable perspective on how others use JAWS more effectively. I also love FSCast.

Mike, for a desktop layout, you'd press numpad 5 twice quickly which
toggles on phonetic mode, so as you arrow to the right or left, you
will hear the phonetic for that letter . so, you'd have to just press
it once again to return it to normal.

Hi Bill,

What is the desktop equivalent to the laptop, Insert + comma, keystroke?
Thanks much.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

Insert, Comma only works if your JAWS settings have been set to Laptop
keyboard.

You can press five twice on the num lock. I didn't know about insert comma.
In fact I tried it, and all it did was write commas. It is definitely
cumbersome.

Hi Everyone,

I find it very hard to ascertain when JAWS reads out the letters B and
D respectively. In other words, the two sound so similar that it is
very difficult to figure when it is reading out which. This problem
arises when it reads out acronyms containing any of these two letters.
The only strategy I use to deal with this is to make it speak the
character concerned phonetically by pressing insert+comma, but that is
a very slow and cumbersome process.
I use JAWS 16 on a Windows 10 machine. I run JAWS at a very high
speed, roughly 65%, but the nature of my work makes such a pace necessary.

Best,
Rahul
