But F5 will say Getting mail whenever you press it not just with the shift key. And now the shift key is always silent.

So is this a possible solution to get Shift F5 to say get mail in Thunderbird?
With thunderbird open hit insert 6.
In the edit box type lab
On the key label search results hit the space bar
In the list of all key labels find F5.
Tab to change key label and hit enter
Change the key label to say Get Mail and hit enter
Now find the entry for shift and change its key label by backing out its enter thus leaving it blank.
Tab to all the necessary ok and apply buttons and get back to the Thunderbird screen.
Now if you enter Shift F5 it says Get mail .

I believe that the Thunderbird coding / scripts would have to be modified. Otherwise Jaws scripts would have to be seriously modified.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

I agree that it should only be a Thunderbird key label. Question I have
is how do you label a new key sequence? Don't see anything in the help
