Re: How to Set Up a Shortcut to Launch Outlook in Safe Mode

Carolyn Arnold <4carolyna@...>

Recently, I have been getting about 500 emails a day. Now,
Outlook tends to want to play tricks on me. If I get in, it
shows zero mail in all boxes. Then sometimes, if mail shows,
I can't open it. So my husband figured out to go up to that
current mailbox that has my email address in it. That helps,
but it is hard to get off the current box and back into the
list of boxes - annoying and unnecessary problem, as I see
it. I've been getting and sending email for about 13 years
and never had this problem until the last few days.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

Hi, Ted. This is not the same safe mode as when you boot
your computer.

Outlook's safe mode is like starting the software without
any Add-Ons enabled. It will also help you determine why
Outlook may not be responding when you have long downloads,
etc.

Tell me more about safe mode. The only safe mode I know is
invoked while the machine is booting.

I am using outlook 2010 so the path may be slightly
different. The path on my machine is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
Office\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE"

It is the office14 that may be different. Check that
outlook.exe is there and you should be good.

I believe you can just add the switch to the path.

windows 7 and Office 2007

I can't figure out how to make this work. My usual Outlook
shortcut does not refer to any file located on my hard
drive, so I cannot add the "/safe" switch to the command
line. I'd like a desktop shortcut to force Outlook to always
start in safe mode. Any suggestions?
