the issue is that as a free lance consultant I at times have to install JAWS on computers belonging to those firms that contract with me so I am not a regular home user.

No need. The Home version is the same as the professional version, except
for one thing: professional is more expensive.

in the past when there was more of an issue of using professional versions
of Windows such as in Windows Vista or 7 the professional version of Jaws
had to be used. I'm not sure if there are differences now with the latest
versions of Windows as since I had to upgrade several years ago I keep
upgrading the professional version of JAWS.

It costs more, and is aimed at users who are using JAWS at their place of
employment. The higher price is often footed by the employer. No functional
difference.
