In that case, the chances are that the object you clicked on is a graphic or perhaps a photo. I had to deal with an objects problem a while ago, but I don't remember the details. Two points, just in case they help: First, there is a setting in JAWS setting (insert-v) for hiding or not hiding objects in Word documents. Mine is on, which probably means it's the default. Second, I have a note to myself from long ago that a lister suggested pressing insert-F1 to find out what's going on with an object. I'm afraid I can't test this, as I normally try to do before posting, because I can't think of any Word document I have right now that contains any objects.
