The OCR function in JAWS 13 is a way to get at that graphical text in programs. It isn't a document reader. It will grab small bits of text that you can actually interact with such as that flash update window that everyone gets. You should be able to read the buttons with this and click the right one once it is done reading the screen.
That's just one practical purpose. Now if you could script it, that would be amazing.

John, I don't think the OCR function means much to many of us who have OpenBook or Kurzweil.

usuallty there is a podcast released before even a public beta.
there is still no podcast yet.

Hi all,
I will be among the beta testers out there. Is anyone else going to try out the beta that comes out next week? I have to since I write scripts. Does anyone have a list of changes they are making with JAWS 13?
