I've avoided the accessible Google site for a long time, but after you posted the link last night, I tried it again. On the one hand, when I compare this website's results pages with regular Google's, a lot is missing, but on the other, it's undeniably easier and faster to navigate. This latest post, about linking only to accessible websites, made me curious, as well as concerned, but the homepage now has this statement:
In July 2006, we launched a small search experiment called Accessible Search, which searched the web for pages that were more accessible to browsers at the time. Since then, much has changed on the web, and this experiment is no longer supported.
Much as I'd like to be spared annoying, hard-to-access websites, I think we limit ourselves by looking only at accessible websites. After all, as posts on this list over the years have shown, each of us has different experiences with different websites.
Anyway, I'm glad to be reminded of accessible Google, which I think I'll starting using for casual searches. Thanks for the posts.
