Re: How to check windows version and hardware
Hi Mike, toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
sorry about the slow reply,
I been having trouble getting mail out using Eudora.
I am on W7 32 bit & using a gmail account,
even though the messege says has been sent, it clearly doesnt go out.
So any ideas let me know please.
Regarding the systeminfo,
It works on xp pro,
but I tryed systeminfo out on a xp home system,
& I got the same result as you did, gee I been using that tool for around 5 years, & I have obviously never ran it on a xp home OS before.
So I checked, & no systeminfo.exe in the system32 folder on the xp home OS.
Are you running xp home?
Sorry about my last post, i didn't enter all the information & questions
that I intended to enter.
I am running XP & after I type, CMD, into the run dialog, press enter,
type in systeminfo, & press enter, this is the message I receive;
graphic 329 C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Mike>systeminfo
'systeminfo' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Did I miss astep, or do these steps not work with XP? Thanks much, take

Hi, you can do the following.
press windows r to open the run box
type in cmd & press enter
this will open the command prompt.
once its open type in
systeminfo & press enter
this will give you what you are looking for along with a lot of other
details, how ever a lot of the output will be pushed up the screen &
the jaws cant read it, do the following
press alt space
this will open a menu bar, up arrow till you hear edit sub menu
right arrow once, & then down arrow till you hear select all, then press
this will highlight all of the output, press enter & this will add it
to the clipboard.
press windows r again to open the run box
now type in notepad
press enter & this will open a blank notepad document.
now press control v to paist all the output.
now you can go back to the top & read it.
you may need to maximise the notepad window.
There are other ways to get the info you are looking for, but without
knowing what OS you are on & what style config the control panel view
is in, I think its better to say to go this way.
If you need any help understanding any of the output I am happy to help.
