In Windows live mail calendar are there shortcut keystrokes to get to a
particular event or date? I tried control g, but nothing happened.

Using J16.

I just stumbled on a very useful feature in MS Outlook Calendar. When you
type Ctrl-G to go to a date, I usually type a specific date there to jump to
another part of the calendar. Instead, try typing some of these phrases to
see how easy it is to look up specific dates in the past and future:

4 weeks before
12 days before
2 weeks
1 month
30 days
3rd Wednesday in February
72 hours
end of month
end of March
beginning of last week
end of next week
